Kosh-a’s Origin

Like any girl who grew up in the 90s and 2000s, I indulged in and was a part of the ‘Fast Fashion’ culture.

Buy more for less was my way to shopping mantra in my early 20s until I started to realize the impact fast fashion and mass consumption had on our environment.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, like every other person in this world, I was locked up in my house with nowhere to be. Like almost everyone who took this as an opportunity to embrace comfortable clothes, I too was in my t-shirt and jammies all day long.

From time to time, I would go into my closet to look at all my clothes untouched for such a long period of time and one day it hit me out of nowhere and I started to question myself about the number of clothes I had, it’s use moving forward, reasoning to myself that I did not need to buy new clothes and what I was going to do with it. I then realized that I will outgrow clothes but instead of buying four $25 tops, if I invested that money in buying one good piece of clothing for $100, I would not lose anything but the world around me will gain a lot from it.

My realization did not stop with clothes. It made me think about the one biggest cause of environmental damage in the present world that is the use of plastic for our day-to-day chores.

As a first step, I started adopting tiny bouts of achievable sustainable practices and was very aware of the choices I made in the storage packaging I used or the garbage bags at home.

From food packaging to cleaning products to even the toothbrush I used was a conscious decision I made along the way. It did not stop at the products but also the source of the product itself was being considered. I adopted any small achievement leading to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Kosh-a has been in the making for a very long time but it wasn’t until the pandemic hit, I was clear of what I wanted to produce and share with the world.

Kosh-a is a product of the sustainable practices I brought into my life in 2020 when the pandemic first hit us. Small batch production, using non leather materials and supporting local artisans is the core of Kosh-a.

It was not until 2023 when I launched Kosh-a. Being a professional yogi, integrating my yogic philosophies and my passion for fashion, took Kosh-a 3 years to be born.
